Eurovision 2021 – Motion Branding

In close collaboration with the Media.Monks brand team, I helped to develop and define the visual and motion language for the broadcast graphics of the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.

With dozens of countries, artists, and songs, plus countless possible permutations of song order and scores, building a data-driven system that could support this huge range of inputs without jeopardising the creative was critical.

For each element of this package – from the scoreboard, to the lower thirds, to the key visual – I created an After Effects template in tandem with the development of the actual motion design.

(Please note that the scoreboard shown here was not the final one used in the eventual broadcast package.)
